AI Grammatic is an AI-powered writing assistant for Mac that rewrites selected text the way a native speaker would put it. It covers grammar, tone and translation through a single keyboard shortcut.
You select text in any Mac app and press Command-Option-E. The rewritten version replaces your original text in place, so there is no copying and pasting into a separate chat window.
It goes beyond a standard grammar checker. As well as fixing mistakes such as wrong prepositions and missing articles, it rewrites phrasing that is technically correct but sounds stiff, overly formal or translated word for word.
Key features include casual and formal versions of each rewrite (add Shift to the shortcut for a formal version), support for more than 30 languages including US and UK English, and separate shortcuts you can assign to each language, such as rewriting in German or Spanish.
Because it works through a system-wide shortcut, there is no plugin to install per app. It works in Slack, Mail, Gmail, Outlook, Notion, Linear, Jira, Messages, WhatsApp, Telegram, Teams, Figma, VS Code, Xcode, Safari, Chrome, Arc, Pages and other apps.
On privacy, text passes through the company's server to the AI provider and is discarded once the rewrite comes back. The service counts how many words you rewrite each day but not what you wrote.
A web demo on the site offers 5 free rewrites a day with no sign-up. The Mac app requires macOS 14 or later.
Pricing: one plan with a 7-day free trial, then USD 7.99 a month or USD 59 a year.
