Lucid is an AI-powered fact checker that gives an evidence-based verdict on a link, a screenshot or a video. You send it the content, pick a question and get a one-word verdict with a plain-English explanation in seconds.
It offers four checks: Is this true, Is this worth buying, Is this AI and Is this a scam. Each check uses the same gauge, running from Verified to False, Trusted to Avoid, Authentic to AI, or Trusted to Scam, and Lucid only offers the checks that fit what you sent.
For each check Lucid searches for live evidence and weighs it on credibility and consistency rather than volume. Every verdict lists the sources it was built from by name, so you can read them yourself.
Key features include follow-up questions that trigger a fresh check when current information is needed, a paste-ready comment generator in a kind, neutral or blunt tone, verdict export as an image, and a saved history of past checks.
You can also tag @asklucid.app under a public Instagram post and Lucid replies in the thread. On a phone you can share content straight from any app without opening Lucid. The site notes that some edits and well-made face swaps may come back as Inconclusive.
Lucid is available as a web beta and as a mobile app on the App Store and Google Play.
Pricing: the Free plan starts with 2 credits, gives a credit back every 7 days and includes every feature with no card required. Unlimited costs $9.99 per month or $39.99 per year. Credit packs of 5 credits for $1.99 or 10 credits for $2.99 are also available and never expire.
It is suited to everyday people checking news, health tips, rumours, product claims, possible scams and AI-generated images or videos before they believe or share them.
