Witness is an AI-powered media verification tool that detects AI-generated images, deepfake videos, face swaps and cloned voices.
You drop in a photo, clip or audio file, or paste a link, and Witness returns a verdict in a few seconds showing what is likely real, what is likely AI and why.
It uses separate specialist detectors for each media type and is trained on more than 75 generator families, including diffusion models, GANs, text-to-image and text-to-video tools, face swap tools, voice cloning, upscalers and inpainting.
Key features include heatmaps that highlight flagged regions in an image, generator attribution when confidence is high, timeline markers that pinpoint the frames where a face was swapped or a scene was generated, and waveform markers for cloned or text-to-speech voices.
Every scan returns a likelihood score, the signals that drove it with their contribution, and a permanent audit ID. It also checks EXIF, C2PA and SynthID provenance data, and the site says uploaded files are never kept.
Witness works as a web app and a Chrome extension, and Pro users get API and MCP access for apps and AI agents. Solutions are offered for newsrooms, insurance claims, hiring, financial services, legal, e-commerce, trust and safety, dating safety and parents.
Pricing: a free plan includes 20 image scans a month and 2 minutes of video or voice. Pro costs USD 15 per month or USD 120 per year with 1,000 image scans, face-swap specialist checks, exports and API access. Enterprise pricing is custom.
It is suited to journalists, fraud and trust teams, recruiters and everyday users who want to check whether media is real before they trust or share it.
