Causal is an AI canvas workspace that brings your ideas, notes, files and plans together on one infinite canvas for creative projects.
Instead of filing things into folders, you place notes, images, links and files on the canvas and arrange them in a way that matches how you think. Related ideas sit near each other and connections show how they relate.
Key features include a rich text editor, image and video storage, link saving, colour swatches, voice memos, drawing tools, widgets, an AI agent on the canvas, collections, nested canvases and an unsorted tray for items you have not placed yet.
You can upload files up to 20 MB, including PDFs, Word documents, Adobe files, spreadsheets, images and video, and preview them inside the app. Markdown files and CSVs can be edited in place, and longer pieces open in a full-page editor.
Causal includes templates for video briefs, app plans, mood boards, storyboards, competitor and brand research, roadmaps, Kanban boards and more. It also offers a Chrome extension, a free Mac desktop app, read-only share links and a Causal MCP connection so you can hand work off to agents.
Pricing: the Free plan does not expire and includes 100 notes, images and links, 10 files, 5 widgets and monthly AI requests. Pro costs 8 GBP per month and adds unlimited notes, files and widgets plus 5x the AI requests.
It is suited to designers, content creators, creative directors and founders who want a visual place to plan work before opening other creative tools.
