Hone is an applied AI research lab building Engines, which are persistent AI agents that are assigned a business outcome and work towards it inside an organisation.
Rather than answering prompts like a chatbot or completing single tasks like an agent, an Engine is given a goal and guardrails, onboards itself, works alongside the team and improves the longer it runs.
Setting one up involves defining the outcome and its boundaries, connecting company systems, and training it against past work such as old tickets, deals and decisions so you can see what it would have done before it touches anything live.
Key features include organisational memory, custom policies that require approval for sensitive actions, logged and auditable actions, a versioned repository of routines the Engine writes for itself, built-in evaluation and orchestration of fleets of agents.
Engines work in Slack, Microsoft Teams and email. Example Engines cover inbound lead conversion, vendor spend management, credit risk, product adoption and customer commitment tracking.
For enterprise use, Hone is SOC 2 certified, offers fine-grained permissions, does not train models on customer data and can be hosted in Hone's cloud or inside your own VPC.
The company is based in San Francisco and describes its team as researchers and engineers who measure their work by real-world results.
Pricing: no prices are listed and access is arranged by booking a demo.
It is suited to larger organisations wanting AI agents to own measurable outcomes in sales, operations, finance and customer teams.
