Kawung is an AI-powered legal research tool for Indonesian business and investment law. Users ask a question in plain language and receive an explanation together with the regulations it is based on.
Each answer points to the article and standard it rests on, so the sources can be checked. Users can choose fast research for a short answer or thorough research for a fuller discussion drawing on more sources. Kawung checks the legal basis of each answer before it is shown.
The curated library holds more than 20,000 selected regulations and rulings, updated every week. Each regulation carries its status and amendment history, repealed rules stay in the library marked as repealed, and selected regional regulations from 24 of Indonesia's 38 provinces are included.
Topics include tax, trade and customs, companies and SOEs, bankruptcy, investment licensing, capital markets, banking, labour, land and property, energy and mining, environment, agriculture, intellectual property, competition and data protection.
Research tools include a validity check, amendment history, side-by-side article comparison, consolidated text, a cited-by view and term definitions across the library. Users can also search and browse regulations by type, year or issuer.
Pricing: Kawung is free to use with daily and weekly usage limits. Paid extra services include a dedicated instance with higher limits, connecting assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT to the library, and Themis, an on-premises AI assistant for companies.
