Beacon is an open-source, self-improving memory layer for AI coding agents. It turns sessions from Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, OpenCode and more than 20 other agent into a shared knowledge layer, so each new agent starts with what earlier ones learned.
Beacon captures the full story of each session, including prompts, tool calls, edits and outcomes. It then reviews successful sessions, picks out the corrections that mattered and turns them into reusable skills.
Once a skill has been reviewed, future agents can retrieve it through MCP or Agent Skills when the same problem comes up again.
Key features include one timeline across every agent and machine, token spend tracking, findings on risks, reusable skills and habits, one-click fixes for prompts, session search over MCP, shareable session links and offline threat detection.
Beacon is installed with a CLI on macOS, Windows or Linux. The open-source version can export to Elastic, S3 or any OpenTelemetry collector and keeps all data on your own machine.
Pricing: the open-source edition and Beacon Cloud are both free, with Beacon Cloud limited to 50 findings. Beacon Cloud Pro is $20 per month billed annually with unlimited findings and full MCP access, and Beacon Cloud Team is $40 per seat per month with a 14-day free trial. Enterprise options are also offered.
